I am so happy you started off your list with Advertising. Most companies want to slash that first in order to save money. Not a good idea. Also using local flyers or directories to market your business can be cost effective as well, as their ad rates tend to be bit more economical.

During a recession many employers layoff workers without considering the consequences and costs they will need to face in the long run after the recession. The best economic solution for a decrease in sales is to decrease salaries to all the employees in the business and to try to avoid laying off as much as possible.
