Pity the overworked internet seller. He (or she) gets a ton of emails every day because he joined a lot of mailing lists to keep his finger on a lot of pulses all at once. He also sends out a lot of emails and you’re on one of his lists.
One day you buy something from him.
But then you have a question about how to use it.
Or it doesn’t work and you want the refund he promised on his site.
THE TROUBLE IS…
The merchant you bought it from is getting hundreds of emails a day.

Or maybe she is getting thousands of emails a day. By then she will have implemented a support ticket system… which means you may never actually connect with the marketer himself.
Personally I think that is a great pity but it’s also somewhat inevitable and I have to admit that employing others for routine customer service issues is a cost effective use of the business owner’s time.
However I intend to defer that as long as possible. Personal contact is important to me - and from what I glean from my customers, it is important to them also.

Back to the getting your email read by the vendor…
HOW TO GET YOUR EMAIL READ
If your merchant is getting a wagonload of email every day, he’ll have to be very selective in what he opens. He will skim his eyes down his inbox and open only a few of the messages.
* Maybe he’ll open 5 percent of the incoming emails.
* Maybe even 10 percent.
* But most email will go into the trash without being opened.
Your challenge - if you want your email to be read - is to write the kind of subject line that guarantees your message will get opened. How?
MY SOLUTION IS…
…to summarize the entire message in the subject line.
Don’t just write ‘need help’ or ‘question’ or ‘gary’.
Write something like ‘Customer needs help with ProductName’ or ‘Jack, it’s Gary Harvey here. I want to promote your ProductName but first…’
Think of the email subject line as an advertisement. You’re writing an ad for your email. Make it informative and boost your chances of getting your message read.
