Anything For A Buck? No

What do you think when you read arrogant (and even abusive) emails from ultra successful internet marketers?

Personally I am very uncomfortable with it.

And even if it makes them a ton of money, if you ask me… it just isn’t right.

I’d rather treat others as I wish to be treated. In the words of the Bible, ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’.

Personally I think that’s a great way to do business too.

BAD EXAMPLE

There is a rich guy who has developed an internet persona that reeks of disrespect. He’s arrogant. He’s brash and boastful. He’s cutting and rude in what he writes. And a handful of clones have copied his scathing formula, too.

Apparently that utter disrespect helps him make money, but it is not my style. And personally I hope it’s not yours.

Anything for a buck? I don’t think so.

ANOTHER BAD EXAMPLE

At the same time that the banks are declaring huge profits, their customers have to sit on the phone for a long time, listening to bank ads while they wait for what is called ‘customer service’. It’s not only a waste of your time as a customer, it makes people hate the banks.

As a home business owner, you don’t want to treat your customers in any way that would foster that same kind of response.

Agreed, it’s not the fault of the woman or guy who finally answers the phone so there is no point in taking out your annoyance on them, but still… it is a great big turnoff against the banks – and other corporates that do the same thing.

The question is:

Are we as home business owners treating our customers better?

We have that opportunity.

We can excel in the personal touch.

We can be genuine.

We can be friendly and caring.

We can show respect.

As a home business owner, especially at the start, you may not have that many customers that you can afford to treat any of them like dirt, but what I am suggesting is that we build customer respect into the fabric of how we do business.

Do that from the beginning, then when you’re financially successful you will still treat people just the way you’d like to be treated. With respect.
