Fixing “The URL is not valid and can not be loaded” error

My wife’s computer started to play up and we’re not sure what triggered it, but she couldn’t see ANY websites at all. Here’s the solution that worked for me.

By the way, anytime you get an error message, you can do a Google search for the exact words of the alert message you are getting.

Our problem:

Pam couldnt get any internet sites on her Firefox browser. Internet Explorer was the same, from memory. All we got was a grey screen with a popup that said… The URL is not valid and can not be loaded. (more…)
